North Yorkshire

A request under the Freedom of Information Act to the North Yorkshire County Council for a list of mainstream primary and secondary schools in the county with facilities for the visually impaired drew the following response:

As North Yorkshire has a low incidence of visually impaired pupils and as a result of the geographical nature of the County, we do not have resourced schools/bases especially for visually impaired pupils.  Children attend their local school or school of their choice, wherever possible, and the local education authority then resources the school accordingly to meet the individual pupil's needs.
