A request under the Freedom of Information Act to Bedfordshire County Council for a list of mainstream primary and secondary schools in the county with facilities for the visually impaired drew the following response:

Thank you for your request for information copied below. Our School Information Plan which will shortly be reprinted and available to the public states the following:

"A peripatetic service is provided for visually impaired pupils who attend mainstream and special schools. As part of this service, a teacher of multi-disabled visually impaired children offers support and advice to teachers in special schools. A peripatetic service is also provided for pre-statutory visually impaired and multi-disabled visually impaired children."
