a better education for visually impaired children

A request under the Freedom of Information Act to the Southwark Borough Council for a list of mainstream primary and secondary schools in the borough with facilities for the visually impaired drew the following response:

In answer to your enquiry no primary or secondary school in Southwark has specialist provision/facilities for the visually impaired either in the form of a unit or a resource base. Our service responds to pupil need in any school that is identified to the Service. It is the case that some schools have equipment on loan to specific children and we do visit at a level according to individual need and Service resources.
