A request under the Freedom of Information Act to the Leeds City Council for a list of mainstream primary and secondary schools in the city with facilities for the visually impaired drew the following response:

Currently in the Leeds area we have one school, Ralph Thoresby High School, which is specifically resourced for visually impaired children and therefore has facilities and provision on site at all times.

[Below] is information relating to other schools who have enhanced provision/facilities, either in terms of equipment, staffing or both because they currently have one or more visually impaired pupil on their roll. This provision is pupil specific and is allocated to the school according to the individual child's needs. It would follow the child through school until the child reached either leaving age or moved to a different area. The facilities are then returned to Education Leeds, once they are no longer required, to be utilised for other children and are therefore not held within the particular school all the time.
