a better education for visually impaired children

Isle of Wight

A request under the Freedom of Information Act to the Isle of Wight Council for a list of mainstream primary and secondary school in the area with facilities for the visually impaired drew the following response:

IOW Children's Services do not have any schools with Visual Impaired units. Provision for Visually Impaired pupils attending any Island LEA school comes from Central Specialist Support Services [1.4.teachers]. Support is allocated against a set of criteria ranging from weekly provision to termly/yearly monitoring. Specialist Staff also provide training for schools.'
