A request under the Freedom of Information Act to Dorset County Council for a list of mainstream primary and secondary schools in the county with facilities for the visually impaired drew the following response:
There is no list of schools that have facilities for visually impaired children as ALL Dorset Schools are open to those pupils. We operate under a policy of inclusiveness in that once a school has been decided on or applied to, the Hearing and Vision Support Service steps in to ensure that the facilities, teaching resources and back-up are put into place. I'm attaching a link to their pages on our website, in order to explain what they can provide and achieve for young people in Dorset:

Of course there may be an exceptional case in rare circumstances, where a school may be deemed unsuitable for a pupil, due to access restrictions for example. In this instance it would be suggested that the pupil attended the nearest possible school that would best suit their needs.
