a better education for visually impaired children

A request under the Freedom of Information Act to the Cumbria County Council for a list of mainstream primary and secondary schools in the county with facilities for the visually impaired drew the following response:

Due to the geographical size of Cumbria, the dispersed nature of the population and its belief in inclusive education, the County has adopted an inclusive approach to its support for visually impaired children. Support, resources and specialist skills are provided to ensure that the needs of any visually impaired child are met, to our utmost capability, throughout the county's schools according to need.

The Council does not hold a list of primary and secondary schools that have facilities for visually impaired children. The provision of facilities will vary to meet individual need.
