a better education for visually impaired children

West Sussex

A request under the Freedom of Information Act to Wes Sussex County Council for a list of mainstream primary and secondary schools in the county with facilities for the visually impaired drew the following response:

For your information, West Sussex does not have any specific special support facilities for children with visual impairment in our mainstream schools. However, we do have a team of qualified teachers who support children with visual impairment in their local school. If a child has significant visual impairment or is educationally blind, the Authority provides training (including Braille) and the necessary specialist equipment top ensure that the child will be able to access the school curriculum.
